Struggling to configure an MMDVM hotspot
The MMDVM hotspot I ordered from China arrived today but I’ve not been successful in getting it to work…yet. In true amateur radio fashion, it came with no directions whatsoever. Fortunately, the Pi-Star software installed on the device is pretty standard so the default username and password allowed me to proceed with configuring the device for DMR radio.
Except it isn’t working. I have my working Skybridge hotspot configuration on screen, right beside the configuration for the MMDVM hotspot. Everything is entered identically, but no joy.
I’m setting it aside for the evening and tomorrow, I’ll pick up a spare microSD card and load a newer image of Pi-Star on it. I have a feeling that Pi-Star on the MMDVM needs to be upgraded so that will be my next shot at this.
The MMDVM device, being much less expensive than the Skybridge, will go with me when I travel so that I have DMR radio access anywhere I have internet access.

I have been interested in the natural world since a very early age. My first career as a mining and exploration geologist took me around the world. In 1992, I began to focus on the conservation of natural resources. I enjoy sailing, working with WordPress and Linux, and amateur radio. It probably goes without saying that I also like to travel!
