Thinking about inexpensive NAS box for home

I’m thinking about building out an inexpensive network-attached storage (NAS) computer for use at home, and accessible remotely.

At present, I’m looking at refurbished Lenovo ThinkStation P510 units. The units I’ve seen have four expansion bays for 2.5″ drives inside the case. I’m leaning toward 2-terabyte SSD drives but these get costly, especially at sizes larger than 2 terabytes. With careful shopping, I could get 4-terabyte hard drives.

For software, I’m definitely looking at Unraid. They offer a service that echoes a cloud-based system, too. The cost of this software is a one-time payment, no subscription!
